Welcome Note from ada egot (Chair of Governors)

I feel very privileged to have been elected chair of governors for the next two years. I have been a governor at Chadwell Primary since 2013, first a parent governor, then a co-opted governor and now a Local Authority governor. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Geological sciences but have spent 20 years of my working life in the local authority- primarily in the education sector within the Children and Young people’s service. It has been and continues to be an incredible opportunity to serve on the governing board working alongside a professional team of staff and high calibre of governors.
As governors, we work closely with the Executive Headteacher, Head of school, senior leaders and visit the school regularly in our role as link governors to specific areas to support teaching & learning and also attend social events. We are a sounding board for ideas and provide support where needed. We meet every half term with focused discussions on improving children’s outcomes, monitoring the school’s finances and ensuring the school estate is fit for purpose. This also includes challenging and asking questions of the senior leadership team to ensure the best possible working environment for staff and education for all pupils.
Being guided by the Chadwell Primary ethos, ‘Everyone a Learner’, the Governors have high aspirations for the school; seeking continuous improvement in all areas and acting as “critical friends” to ensure we lay a solid foundation for our children and learning continues not only during their years with Chadwell but beyond.
From the extraordinary & dedicated team of staff who are always conscious that the best interests of the children is at the core of their work to the lively and friendly learning environment, where pupils of many cultures and backgrounds thrive in this our large but welcoming school; there truly is nowhere else like Chadwell Primary.
I am excited about the future of Chadwell and the responsibility we share in its long term success.
I hope that all parents will continue to play a part in each child’s learning journey and share our commitment in making a positive difference to the educational outcomes, personal development and wellbeing of our children.
You will see me and/or other Governors at school events as we try to attend as many as possible between us. So please feel free to have a chat as we work together to provide a happy, caring and inclusive environment where all our pupils feel valued and safe.
