In Year 5, children will be learning about ‘Antarctica’, ‘The River Thames and the Victorians’ and ‘Exploration’. Over the course of the year, they will be visiting the National Maritime Museum, the Royal Observatory and the British Museum to support their learning.
As part of the ‘Victorians’ topic, children will focus on Victorian London and read ‘Nicholas Nickleby’ and ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens. They will attend a performance of ‘A Christmas Carol’ at the Museum of London. Over the rest of the year, the children will be reading a range of quality texts including ‘Holes’ and the ‘Just So Stories’.
Children have weekly Music and French lessons, and will be swimming and canoeing in the Summer term.
